Ensure a solid, complete KS2 foundation for Key Stage 3

Most of what your child will learn in Year 7 builds off what they learned in Key Stage 2, so any topics they struggled with in Year 6 or earlier will only be that much harder in secondary school.

Matr’s tutors use a maths level test to identify these areas of difficulty before a child’s first session, and focus on them. Once the child is secure with these topics they’ll move on with the skills needed to tackle new topics with confidence.

Embed and reinforce what is learnt at school

Matr’s lessons and curriculum plans are designed in line with the National Curriculum and schemes of work such as White Rose Maths, which are used in many schools.

This means your 12 year old’s tutor will be teaching them the same topics as their teachers at roughly the same time. Studies have shown that children learn best when schoolwork is reinforced in the outside world; our tuition provides the perfect opportunity for this deeper learning to occur.

Progress doesn’t have to be painful

One of the key worries parents have about finding tutoring is cost; can they afford to hire a tutor, and if they do, does that tutor justify their expense with real progress for your child?

Matr attacks this problem from both sides. Our lessons start from just £9.99 per week, less than half the price of many other tutoring companies so you don’t have to spend your savings on extra support for your child.

With experience from teaching over 50,000 other students we can be fairly confident in the progress that your child will make with us. On average, a Matr student will make seven months’ worth of progress in 14 weeks – your child can be breezing through Year 7 maths in the space of a few months, whatever their initial starting point!

“My 9 year old daughter did the free lesson as she was really falling behind in school. She really struggles with change and speaking out when shes gets stuck, but she’s now on her 4th lesson with her tutor Urmila and she’s starting to tell her when she’s not understanding things, This is a huge difference for her!”

The magic bullet is confidence. They've got someone who's listening to them - and it makes a massive difference!

It was really cool! My tutor was really nice and when I made a mistake she really helped me correct it. I enjoyed having the headset because I thought it was very helpful. It helps you concentrate because you can't hear the sounds around you. It's just a fun way to learn maths!
